Over 1,000 Books for Africa Delivered to Atlanta

GTU officers Raymond Patrick and Melanie Helvie help to pack books.

EKU's chapter of Gamma Theta Upsilon, the International Geography Honor Society, collected more than 1,000 textbooks in their spring and summer drive in support of the non-profit organization Books for Africa. GTU members drove the books down to the Atlanta warehouse where they received a tour of the facility, which processes and ships more than three million books annually to 49 different countries across Africa.

GTU will continue collecting books for Books for Africa. Books can be dropped off at any of FOUR drop off locations: 2234 Sciences Building, Moore 320, Dizney 208, and inside the Admissions Office in the Whitlock building. You may also request someone to pick up the books for you. Contact GTU president Larissa Watkins at larissa_watkins11@mymail.eku.edu or faculty advisor Dr. Kelly Watson at kelly.watson@eku.edu for more information or to request a pick up.

Thanks to all who donated textbooks during the 2017 book drive!
