Geosciences Student Co-organizes Big Dip Water Testing Event

The annual Big Dip water quality testing event was held on September 10-11 in Hazard, Kentucky. Shelby Tyring, a senior geography major from Oldham County, co-organized the event and trained 74 volunteers to test water quality in streams across coal-producing regions of eastern Kentucky.

Geography major Larissa Watkins, a senior from Lindsay, California, was awarded the Kentucky Association of Mapping Professionals (KAMP) GIS scholarship at the organization’s annual conference held in Covington, KY on October 17-19.
